Originally from Sun Valley, Idaho, I have resided in NYC for 13 years, working in the fashion and entertainment industry. My work experience has helped me develop the necessary skills to work intimately with new clients as well as communicate needs and desires effectively. I am also an avid yoga and Pilates practitioner. I draw upon this experience often during my work as a doula.
I became interested in birth work after hearing birth stories from friends. Several had traumatic birth experiences where they did not feel supported, listened to or informed during the birth process. This didn't sound right to me. I started asking around for more birth stories. I heard some incredible stories that were attended by doulas. Like some of you, I had no idea what a doula was so I did some research. I learned about the status of birthing women globally and domestically, in particular among minorities. I also learned that having a non-biased, constant, and supportive person by your side could help reduce unfavorable birth outcomes and increase overall satisfaction of the birth experience.
I believe that birth is an amazing process and you deserve to have the best birth possible. I support all types of births and families, recognizing that this is YOUR birth story, not mine. My goal is to help mothers and birth partners experience a memorable birth-day!
I am a DONA trained birth doula. I hold current certification in Adult and Pediatric CPR/ AED from the American Red Cross. I am a certified yoga instructor. I am also a Hypnobirthing certified doula. Additionally, I have attended workshops for essential oils during pregnancy, labor and baby; comforting touch for birth workers; Spinning Babies and healing trauma in birth.
